Elevating Legacy of Excellence to Advance Endless Optical Possibilities
About us
Ocean Optics pioneered miniature spectrometers and delivers spectral solutions to researchers, OEMs and industrial customers, also designs and builds industrial-grade photonics systems for material inspection, chemical identification and quality assurance. Our mission is to lead in creating precise yet practical optical solutions that enable researchers and industry to solve meaningful problems in health, safety and the environment. We have discovered, refined and delivered new approaches to solving problems with spectroscopy and imaging technologies. Backed by deep experience, we are working within applications including academia & research, energy, environmental, food & agriculture, general manufacturing, medical technology, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and transportation. We partner with customers to achieve ambitious goals, leveraging the power of light for advancement in health, safety and the environment. OUR HISTORY Ocean Optics started in the late ‘80s, seeded by a federal grant for a marine pH sensor. As part of their work, the Ocean team needed a compact spectrometer to fit into a small, underwater housing, and were surprised to discover none existed. So, they made their own. Founder Mike Morris started the evolution of spectrometers from floor unit-sized to handheld. By 1992, the “world’s first miniature spectrometer” ushered in a new way of utilizing spectroscopy. Today, our technologies have evolved, our offering has expanded, and our customers remain vital partners.

🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ What a fun evening! Last night, our team participated in the Orlando Simply IOA Corporate 5k, organized by KeyHR. The Ocean Optics team, led by our President Richard Curran, joined many local businesses and non-profit organizations to celebrate teamwork, camaraderie, friendly competition, and a commitment to #wellness. But the excitement didn't stop in #Orlando! Across multiple locations, our incredible team came together to “Live Ocean”. From Orlando to #Tampa, to #Minnesota, to #Rochester, and across the pond to #Germany, we ran as one with a shared passion for dedication to health and teamwork. We also had the pleasure of hosting our team members from #China, that ran alongside our whole team. #Corporate5K #LiveOcean #OceanOptics

It'd be nice if there were 3 simple tips for a perfect golf swing, but with 3 simple questions we can at least set you up with the perfect spectroscopy kit for your lab. Sample, Size, Specialization...that's it, and you're ready to measure what matters. https://lnkd.in/ef3eHHJR

Our team comprises a vibrant mosaic of knowledge, spanning fields such as applied physics, #biology, biochemistry, #bioengineering, #chemistry, color science, electrical, environmental, industrial, mechanical engineering, #photonics, polymer science, semiconductor technology, #spectroscopy, and physics, among others. But our reach extends beyond just scientific and engineering expertise; we are equipped to support customers across a multitude of languages and cultures. Whether it's communicating technical intricacies or understanding nuanced preferences, our team stands ready to ensure positive experience for all.
𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Members of the Ocean Optics sales teams around the world met in our Orlando headquarters this week to share their experience serving our customers and collaborate across the company on the next generation of photonic systems that will make the world safer, cleaner, and healthier. Even with some new individuals joining our team in the past year, the people who participated in the Sales meeting have an average of almost 10 years working in Ocean Optics, which highlights one of our greatest strengths: the depth of our experience. My head is still buzzing from how much we learned from each other in both the focus sessions and the many informal - and sometimes irreverent - discussions that happened in the labs, lunchroom, and on the manufacturing floor this week. Accountability. Creativity. And the humility to share lessons learned in the pursuit of excellence for our customers. More of the many reasons I am proud to be part of the Ocean Optics team that measures what matters. #OceanOptics #Spectroscopy #Photonics #Collaboration
